NEW YORK — Gen Art, the showcase for young and emerging fashion and accessories talent, will be back this New York Fashion Week with several initiatives and a new designer lineup.
The three designers showing as part of the New Garde Fashion Show will be William Okpo, which is designed by Darlene and Lizzy Okpo; Samantha Pleet, who makes her clothes in New York and, when possible, uses organic materials, and Gemma Kahng, who recently relaunched her collection.
This season, the shows will also feature a new sponsor partnership with Crest 3D White, which had launched a Little White Wardrobe competition asking designers to create a capsule collection inspired by the sponsor’s white, radiant theme. The winning designs will be unveiled as part of this fashion week’s event.
“Part of what we’re doing right now is taking the company to next level,” said Gen Art’s chief executive officer, Marc Lotenberg. “We’re hoping to switch up the script.”
The show will take place Feb. 9 at Exit Art, and will be hosted by actress Emmanuelle Chriqui and benefit Raise Hope for Congo, a cause the “Entourage” actress is passionate about.
Designers such as Zac Posen, Rodarte, Phillip Lim and Rebecca Taylor made their runway debuts in Gen Art fashion shows.
Gen Art reprised its annual Fresh Faces in Fashion show highlighting emerging fashion and accessories designers during the September shows, after a two-year hiatus and with new ownership under Sandow Media.
