BOOK CLUB: Inès de la Fressange and Bruno Frisoni helped fete the launch of the French edition of Alexandra Shulman’s novel “Can We Still Be Friends” on Tuesday night with a cocktail and book signing at Paris’ Galignani bookstore.
“Everyone said, ‘Why didn’t you write a book about fashion?’ But for me, that would have been just an extension of the day job,” said Shulman, the editor of British Vogue. “I wanted to do something separate. Maybe one day, but you know — not for a bit.”
A big fiction fan, Shulman is currently reading “The Heart Broke In,” by James Meek, and she looks forward to starting Rupert Everett’s memoirs.
Meanwhile, Frisoni just finished Maria Duenas’ “L’Espionne de Tanger,” which he picked up in Pierre Bergé’s Colonnes bookstore, fittingly in Tangier. And Fressange said she “devoured” in one weekend “Sérénité,” by Christophe André.
