JUST BREATHE: Designers never know where a red-carpet connection can be made. Dennis Basso has his husband Michael Cominotto to thank for hooking him up with Tony best actress nominee Tyne Daly. Earlier this year the designer’s better half befriended the “Mothers and Sons” actress at The Ashram. Back in New York he and Basso caught up with her backstage at the Golden Theatre after one of her performances in the Terrence McNally play. Once she was nominated, Basso offered to dress her in a customized mauve silk chiffon cocktail dress with smoky diamond beading for Sunday’s Tony Awards. “I told her, ‘You have to wear short.’ She has fabulous legs and a very nice décolleté so the dress has a portrait collar,” Basso said. “If she wins, it will look really pretty walking across the stage because the dress moves.”
