Fédération de la Couture Presses Charges Against 'Fake Casting'

The organization said models are being called to a “fake casting call that is purportedly being held by the Fédération and a well-known couture house.”

BOGUS CASTING CALL: On the cusp of Paris Fashion Week, the French Federation of Couture and Ready-to-Wear posted on its Web site a media alert about a “fake casting call organized under the name of the federation” along with a “well-known couture house.”

It said the federation’s letterhead — with its brand, logo and address — was used in the fax to potential models and signed by its director of public relations.

“The fédération and the couture house, whose names are mentioned and reproduced fraudulently in the letter, have nothing to do with this organization and its fake casting call,” it said. “We kindly request that everyone who has received a fax like the one described above to be aware of this fraud and to let us know immediately.”

“I cannot tell you more due to legal reasons, but we have pressed charges for fraudulent usage of our name,” Sylvie Zawadzki, the federation's executive secretary of legal affairs, told WWD. “We want to make sure that the girls don’t think it comes from us.”
