GO FETCH: Farfetch.com, an online platform for independent, high-end fashion boutiques worldwide, is set to add Miami boutique The Webster to its site.
The Webster’s offering — which includes Givenchy, Lanvin and Proenza Schouler — will be available via Farfetch.com from Aug. 27. The model of the platform is that Farfetch builds a profile for each boutique and photographs its product. Customers then pay for purchases through Farfetch.com, which passes the funds onto the boutique and takes a percentage of each sale.
Farfetch acts as an online platform for 150 boutiques, including American Rag in Los Angeles, Atrium in New York, Feathers in London and L’Eclaireur in Paris. Earlier this month, Browns in London joined the site, and recent European additions include SN3 and Coccodrillo in Antwerp and Marion Heinrich in Munich.
“We are absolutely delighted to be bringing The Webster on board to join our community of global boutique partners, a milestone for us in terms of business development and building our network in the USA,” said José Neves, founder and chief executive officer of Farfetch.com.
Earlier this year, Farfetch received $18 million in investment from the venture capital firms Index Ventures, eVenture Capital Partners and Advent Capital Partners. Neves stated that following the investment, he planned to expand and deepen the platform’s presence in Europe and North America.
