GRELLER RETURNS: Jonathan Greller is back in the retail business. The former top women’s merchant for the Hudson’s Bay Co. has rejoined the Toronto-based chain as senior vice president of private brand apparel and wholesale, a newly created position. Greller, who had been with HBC’s Lord & Taylor division for 19 years, left the company in July to join The Doneger Group as chief operating officer.
Abbey Doneger, president of The Doneger Group, would say only: “Jonathan and I agreed to part ways.”
Greller, who will report to Mary Turner, executive vice president of specialty for HBC, said he will lead the private brand merchandising for both women’s and men’s. The company produces women’s apparel under the Lord & Taylor label and Black Brown 1826, a men’s brand designed by Joseph Abboud.
“I’m returning to my roots,” Greller said. “Being back as a merchant is right for me.”
When he joined Doneger, it was believed that Greller was being groomed to one day succeed Doneger at the helm of the consulting firm. Doneger said there are no immediate plans to fill the chief operating officer position.
