PULLING THE WOOL: Woolrich John Rich & Bros. women’s collection will have a more sophisticated slant when it is unveiled at the WP Lavori booth at Pitti Uomo. In keeping with a “Gentlewoman” theme, the new women’s design team worked in an assortment of luxury materials, fabrics and patterns.
Wool, of course, is featured prominently, including vintage wool patterns that were culled from the new Woolrich Archive selection. Hunting-inspired styles carry labels highlighting how each item was made from wool tweed, wool gauze, printed silk or Tencel denim.
Women’s outerwear, which retails from $595 to $795, has waterproof technical wool pieces, sheepskin fur collars and eco-friendly linings. Pants will retail from $140 to $225, and tops and sweaters will run from $150 to $350. Pastel colors are used throughout the collection — even for the Byrd Arctic parka — to give the line more of a feminine feel.
In addition, Woolrich John Rich & Bros. has partnered with Porselli to design and produce limited-edition woolen ballerina flats. Made with original Woolrich patterns, the shoes are handmade and produced in Milan.
