SIGIC’S HOT CHOCOLATE: Sinan Sigic has worked for Christian Dior, Martin Margiela and Louis Vuitton but his designs can be found at La Maison du Chocolat. In honor of the launch of the company’s 35th anniversary collection, Sigic has created an assortment of customized pieces made from re purposed ribbons and boxes. Belts, a makeup case, an iPad case, tote bags, vases and a Jacob’s ladder toy are among the 100 limuted edition goods that are available in 12 Madison du Chocolat stores including New York, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Paris. A $1,600 chess set made from the brand’s boxes for chocolate and hat pins Sigic found at a Paris flea market is the most extravagent item though others start at $75. As a member of the Comité Colbert, La Maison du Chocolat is concerned about social responsibility and wanted to be seen in a new light, said managing director Geoffroy d’Anglejan-Chatillon. And recruiting Sigic, founder and director of Atelier Hapax, was “a good way to be visible in the market of design and to show how we give some products a new life.
