SWAROVSKI’S NEW SPARKLE: Swarovski has tapped more than 20 jewelry designers, including Stephen Webster, Stephen Dweck and Judith Jack, to create one-of-a-kind pieces using its new line of marcasite gemstone. The gemstone, known as pyrite in its rough form, is marketed by the company’s Swarovski Gems division, which is distinct from its crystal business. Marcasite — most often set in sterling silver by jewelry makers — is the latest offering from the division, which offers a range of products like sapphire, amethyst, citrine and topaz. Nadja Swarovski and Daniel Cohen, both members of the Swarovski executive board, will celebrate the marcasite launch and the jewelry designs with a cocktail party at Glasshouse 21 in New York on Tuesday.
