Call it a wanna-be Coachella for the East Coast. The first Catalpa Festival, held on New York’s Randall’s Island July 28 to 29, was a wild mix of music and art with more than 40 performers and installations of all scales. As for the fashion, it took on an “anything goes” attitude, but given the weekend’s rain and mud, a Glastonbury theme was also evident as Wellies and jean shorts were in full effect. Other strong trends included little cropped tops and the shortest of shorts, often paired with Western boots and Chuck Taylors.
