John Hartshorn, managing director of Skechers’ Canadian operations, died on June 25 at the age of 60. He had battled cancer for more than two years.
During his time at Skechers, Hartshorn was responsible for much of the company’s Canadian expansion, first as brand manager of the its distributor, Bata, and later as a member of Skechers’ executive team.
Skechers launched in Canada in 1997 and formed its own subsidiary in 2003.
“John was an integral part of the Skechers business through and through, even bringing his own family into the business,” said COO David Weinberg. “He was passionate about his work for Skechers and he was respected within the company and the footwear industry.”
Hartshorn is survived by his wife, Janet, daughter Jane and son Blake, all of whom work for Skechers in Canada.
