SAY, HEY: Rodale keeps bleeding talent. Say Media, the company behind sites like Jane Pratt’s xojane.com and Style Bubble, is set to reveal today that it has poached Men’s Health’s associate publisher Tim Koorbusch to be its new vice president of American sales.
His exit follows the public beheadings of two of the most high-profile editors at the family-owned company. Last month chief executive officer Maria Rodale widely broadcast she’d dismissed David Zinczenko, who had become synonymous with the brand over 12 years, and Steve Perrine, who’d lead the revived Men’s spin-off, Best Life.
Rodale also confirmed Friday it had dismissed Best Life creative director John Mather, reassigning his job to existing staff.
Four is a big number of key staffers to lose at any given point, but especially in the span of a couple of weeks. “It was time to refresh the Men’s Health brand with new vision and new ideas,” a Rodale spokeswoman told WWD.
Say Media also grabbed Kate Lewis, an executive director of human resources at Condé Nast and former Self managing editor, for a newly created position that roughly translates to editorial director of the company’s sites.
