SANDERS’ PARIS MATCH: Condé Nast has named Gina Sanders to the newly created role of president of global development.
The exec most recently served as president and chief executive officer of WWD parent Fairchild Fashion Media before Condé Nast reached an agreement last month to sell Fairchild to Penske Media Corp. Sanders was Fairchild’s ceo for four years.
In her new job, Sanders will report to Condé ceo Charles Townsend and Jonathan Newhouse, chairman and ceo of Condé Nast International.
Her job will consist of working with Condé Nast’s current and prospective business partners globally to create new business opportunities, the company said, without elaborating further.
Sanders will be working out of offices in Paris and New York.
Based in London, Condé Nast International, which operates 38 titles, is a key revenue generator for Condé Nast.
“In today’s dynamic business environment, it is more important than ever to have a coordinated global network and reach,” Townsend said. “With Gina’s extensive relationships and strong business acumen, we will be able to fully harness the power of our brands worldwide.”
Newhouse added: “I am delighted that Gina is taking on this new role. She is a results-getting executive who makes things happen, and that will be good news for our brands and our business partners.”
Prior to her four-year tenure at Fairchild, Sanders served as vice president and publisher of Lucky, which was recently merged with e-tailer BeachMint to form the Lucky Group. She also served as the founding vice president and publisher of Teen Vogue and as vice president and publisher of Gourmet, which folded in 2009, as well as Details magazine.
“The opportunity to envision and activate the power of Condé Nast on a global scale is exhilarating,” said Sanders, who has spent 26 years at the publishing company.
