'Three Layers of Black' at Versace

Models wore a super modern beauty look with a touch of rock 'n' roll.

MILAN — "Three layers of black," said makeup artist Pat McGrath, describing the dramatic black eye that complemented Donatella Versace's rock 'n' roll collection.

 

Using CoverGirl brand products, McGrath defined eyes with Liquiline Blast Eyeliner, filled in with Smoky Shadow Blast in Smoke and black cream shadow, set with shimmering onyx eye shadow and finished with 24 Hour Lash Blast Mascara on the top and bottom lashes.

 

Lips were covered in balm, and cheekbones were sparsely highlighted. Eyebrows were toned, a process that removed the color and then added a lighter shade of the models' natural hair color.

 

Hairstylist Guido Palau fitted the models with fake bangs that hit mid-forehead. "Donatella wanted the girls to look super cool and super modern, but still bring out that Versace rock 'n' roll girl," said Palau. He texturized hair with Redken brand products for a shaggy, rough tactility.

 

Wool Shake 08 was sprayed onto wet hair and roughly dried to give it texture. A dry shampoo texturizing product, Powder Refresh 01, added robustness.
