Gypsy Travelers at Nanette Lepore

Beauty at Nanette Lepore RTW Fall 2014

At Nanette Lepore on Wednesday, the beauty look channeled the gypsy traveler. Makeup artist Sarah Lucero, global executive director of creative artistry for Stila Cosmetics, interpreted the concept by giving models balmy, creamy skin and dark stained lips. She prepped skin with Weleda Skin Food and Caudalie Premier Cru The Cream and then applied Stila Beauty Balm for a glossy texture. She used Stay All Day Foundation to remove any redness around the nose and mouth. Eyes were free of shadow, but offset by a straight false lash (created by clipping off the curve) and a pale, gray liner called Alloy. On lips, she applied Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Amore and then dabbed Pomegranate Crush Lip & Cheek Stain onto the center of the lips. She brushed eyebrows upward for a “windblown effect.”

“Everything is matte except for the skin,” said Lucero.

For the hair, James Pecis for Beauty.com, using Alterna Haircare and T3 tools, carried on the theme with two looks. For the first, he prepped hair with Alterna Bamboo Volume 48 Hour Sustainable Volume Spray from roots to ends. He then worked in Uplifting Root Blast, blow-drying it through with the T3 Featherweight Luxe 2i. For hair that needed extra volume, he used Style Cleanse Extend Translucent Dry Shampoo. Next he used a large curling iron — T3 BodyWaver — to create natural, Bohemian waves. He took a piece of hair in the front and braided it across the forehead and down to the ear, keeping the rest of the hair soft looking. For the second look, he gathered hair into five or six sections and then tied the hair into knots. He finished by opening each knot a bit and pinning them down, keeping some pins visible.

On nails, the Essie team applied one coat of Chinchilly, a granite gray shade, to three-quarters of the right side of the nail followed by Berry Naughty, creating a half dark pewter, half deep plum design.
