Michael Douglas caused a frenzy at the show, where he was seated in the front row with his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones.

DOUGLAS IN OVERDRIVE: Michael Douglas caused a frenzy in the front row of Michael Kors’ show, where he was seated with his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones. The actor, who will star in the role of Liberace for the TV movie “Behind the Candelabra,” said he enjoyed channeling the celebrated pianist.

“It’s a whole world you have to dive into — the period, the sexual identity. You just dive into the deep end. There’s no in between,” said Douglas.

Douglas will also appear in the movie “Last Vegas,” which also stars Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline. It’s about four best friends in their late 60s who escape retirement to throw a Las Vegas bachelor party for the only one of them who has remained single. He’s also working on “Reykjavik,” where he plays Ronald Reagan during the peace talks with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. “I had a cancer break so I’m making up for lost time,” said Douglas. Meantime, Zeta-Jones will star in “Red 2,” with Bruce Willis and Anthony Hopkins.

But films weren’t the only thing on Douglas’ mind. He later was overheard talking to Lawrence Stroll recapping details of the Wednesday decision by Germany’s highest court to approve the euro rescue fund and what it would mean for Europe.

Also in the front row at Kors’ show were Marisa Tomei and Katharine McPhee, as well as Galen Weston, chairman of Holt Renfrew and the Selfridges Group. Asked how he felt about Nordstrom moving into Canada, Weston was very welcoming. “It’s a great lift for Canadian fashion. They’re a very powerful company,” said Weston. He said Nordstrom carries different brands and has different store models. “Ours are a lot smaller than theirs. But it’s great for Canada,” said Weston.
